It's place of origin is India (the land of the
present system of numerals, decimals and zero) and dates back to prehistoric times. In essence,
it is based on sixteen formulas (sutras) made up to barely 120 words in all. It was discovered
by Jagadguru Swami Sri Bharati Krsna Tirth Maharaja, Sankaracharya Of Govardhana Math,
Puri who propagated his pioneering work through out the world. It must be emphasized that
although because of its origin, it is rightly called Vedic Mathematics, the mathematics it deals
with is universal in that it does not require the knowledge of Sanskrit nor any acquaintance with
the Vedas. Anyone who is conversant with the basics of mathematics can understand and follow these
methods. Let us now see why Vedic Mathematics has become so popular
and is rated so high by it's users.
It is very original, totally unconventional and provides a new thinking
and approach. Vedic Mathematics is so powerful, yet simple and fun to work with.
It's word-formula lead to efficient and super fast calculations.
It encourages mental calculations since it handles the numbers of small magnitudes.
It is easy, simple, direct and straightforward. The students are freed from committing to memorise the multiplication tables and the like.. They are enthusiastic in learning the methods and eagerly
look forward to the mathematics classes. They also enjoy sharing their newfound knowledge with others.
Everyone loves variety and Vedic mathematics offers it in ample measure.
It is comprehensive and is based on pattern recognition.
It is exceedingly flexible and offers a large number of alternatives for almost every kind of problem. It is this aspect that captivates the students and others the most. The weaker students gain mastery of the
subject slowly and steadily by taking advantage of the flexibility and availability of alternatives for a given problem; in contrast, present available blanket methods provide only two options: “to
learn them or leave them“. On the other hand, the bright students take full advantage of the flexibility by learning to be creative and challenge in choosing the most appropriate and time saving
method that is consistent with underlying pattern of a given problem.
Finally, all areas of modern mathematics, be it pure or applied, come under the scope of Vedic mathematics. This is because it provides a unified approach to different areas of mathematics by the application of
the same work formulas to diverse fields like trigonometry, analytical geometry, calculus, differential equations and so on. The present day researchers in Vedic Mathematics have confirmed the enormous versatility that it has in this respect.
The spin off this extendibility is that students who have been trained in the application of Vedic
Mathematics to arithmetic can easily move over to college and higher mathematics deriving the same benefits as they did in the case of arithmetic.
" Like the crest of the peacock,
Like the gem on the head of a snake,
So is mathematics at the head of all knowledge. "
Mathematics is regarded as science of all sciences. Mathematics stands
forth as that which unites and mediates between man and nature, thought and perception, inner and outer world.
Vedic mathematics is not just a pedagogic and research tool but an introduction to ancient civilization. It is thus a
bridge across centuries, civilizations, linguistic barriers and national frontiers.
Vedic mathematics has originated from that Vedas. VED is all divine knowledge. Any knowledge derived from the Ved is
bound to have the touch of the divine bliss. Therefore the very natural, easy and super fast algorithms of Vedic mathematics bring an upsurge of joy and bliss.
Due to its very special and universal features, Vedic maths system converts
the dry and tedious maths into playful and joyful subject, which everyone learn with smiles. Therefore the Vedic maths is the gift of the Vedas to solve the problem
of MATHS ANXIETY being faced in maths education in the
world.
